Women's Backcountry Ski Camp
We are offering a 3-day Women’s Backcountry Ski Camp, which is designed for women to who want to take their backcountry skiing knowledge and experience to the next level, in a fun and safe learning environment. Topics emphasized will include identifying avalanche terrain, snowpit analysis, the basics of avalanche rescue, decision-making, leadership, and tips for moving efficiently in the mountains. The goal will be to practice backcountry ski skills, spend time in amazing places, make friendships, have fun, ride powder, and learn more about the incredible history and ecology of the Yellowstone region.
Dates: Feb. 16-18, 2024.
Location: Yellowstone National Park/ National Forest around Cooke City, MT.
Lead instructor: Amanda Hart.
Cost: $625.
A 50% deposit is required for all reservations.
Participant Requirements: intermediate to advanced ski or snowboard skills are required. Must be comfortable skiing diamond runs at a ski area in variable snow conditions. Participants must provide their own backcountry touring equipment (AT skis, telemark skis, or splitboard), and avalanche safety equipment (beacon, shovel, probe). Prerequisite Avalanche Awareness training or Level 1 Avalanche Course also recommended. Additionally, participants are responsible for their own accommodations in Cooke City or Silver Gate, MT during the course.
